Istanbul Textile Tour 5 Days

Day 1: Arrival to Istanbul.
Welcome to Turkey! You’re greeted upon arrival and escorted to your hotel located in the Old City area-Sultanahmet. According to your arrival time you can either check in to the hotel and relax or check out the Old city area. The remainder of the day is at leisure before meeting your tour guide for a short welcome briefing. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2: Turkish and Islamic Arts (B-L)
After having breakfast at the hotel, morning visit to the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts in the Hippodrome with emphasis on the carpets and ethnographical section that has a wonderful display of ethnic implements and room settings. Following lunch, we will walk to the Covered Bazaar best described as one of the oldest undercover shopping centers in the world containing around 4000 shops. We will be shown excellent examples of handmade textiles including Ikat , Suzanis (embroidered pieces from Central Asia) & felt artifacts from a UNICEF sponsored cooperative & have time to wander through its amazing streets indulging in some retail therapy.

Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 3: Istanbul Felt Workshop (B-L)
After having breakfast at the hotel, Following the inspiration seen in the Covered Bazaar, this is a day devoted to working with fiber to produce your own unique piece of wearable felt supervised by an expert craftsperson in a local workshop Later in the day visits will be made to stores in and near to Arasta Bazaar with discussion on available products and how they were manufactured.

Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 4: Museums and Designer Stores (B-L)
After having breakfast at the hotel, we will be taken to Sadberk Hanim museum to view the excellent collection of costumes & textiles with detailed relevant discussions of the history of styles etc. Lunch by the Bosporus followed by visits to stores of designers involved in the use or revitalizing vintage fabrics into new original pieces.

Day 5: Departure Transfer. (B)
After breakfast at the hotel you may ask our office for other options while enjoying tea with us. Depending on your departure time, transfer to Airport for your the return flight.

*You may extend your stay and request further information about our tours to highlights of Turkey from our office in Sultanahmet.

We reserve the right to change the hotels listed if necessary to hotels of a similar category. All hotels have a wonderful local ambience. Transport will only be able to take us to a designated place & then a certain amount of walking is required. Comfortable shoes are recommended for all seasons and appropriately modest dress for any religious venues.
